    Carmen currently serves as the Managing Director for Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Founder of CB Consulting — a political and cultural impact firm. Carmen’s 10+ years of experience in training and advancing diverse communities has allowed her to serve as the President of the United States Student Association, Field Director at NAACP and Choice USA,

    Digital Strategist at AFSCME, Executive Director at the Generational Alliance, and most recently Director of Civil, Human and Women’s Rights at the AFL-CIO, where she lead a two year effort to develop a racial justice and criminal justice platform for the labor movement, and led a large scale effort to build the electoral capacity of people of color and women.

    Recently named Essence Magazines Woke 100, and Washington Life Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 for over 9 years, Carmen has been recognized for her work by many of her peers in the movement for her activism. A communicator by trade, Carmen is the co-host of Sophie’s Parlor on WPFW FM, and has been seen as a political commentator on MTV and TVOne, and she is frequently quoted and writes for magazines and blogs such as Washington Post, the New York Times, Huffington Post and Amsterdam News. In her spare time, she serves as an electoral, issue campaign and gender/race equity consultant and adjunct trainer for the Midwest Academy and Wellstone Action. She is on the Board of Directors for Congressional Black Caucus Institute, Advocates for Youth and the League of Young Voters.
