A Review of the Promoting Electoral Reform and Democratic Participation Initiative (Ford Foundation)

In this report, author and political science professor at the University of California Santa Barbara, Hahrie Han, examines how organizations can strengthen political participation and civic engagement in the United States. She suggests that for organizations to achieve more meaningful and active participation, they must adopt a framework comprised of three inter-related characteristics: powerful, possible, and probable.

Member Resource APRIL FIRST MONDAY DISCUSSION: Investing in Rural Strategies to Revitalize Democracy

In this webinar we learned about new research from the Groundswell Fund which studied integrated voter engagement strategies in rural areas. We discussed what effective rural engagement may look like, how philanthropy can provide the space for grantees to succeed in this challenging environment, and heard from colleagues around their perspectives on engaging rural voters.
