Philanthropy and the 2020 Census tells the story of philanthropy’s engagement in the 2020 census, including lessons learned as funders continue to invest in civic participation, a stronger democracy (and the 2030 census!) in the years to come. Commissioned by the Democracy Funders Collaborative Census Subgroup and written by William H. Woodwell, Jr., it provides a case study of how funders joined with nonprofits, government and others in a determined effort to protect a “cornerstone of American democracy.”
