Following the 2018 midterm elections, pro democracy organizing established gains that demonstrated how citizen driven initiatives can realign power and mitigate the influence of corporate and special interest money in areas spanning from local elections to movement building.  Emerging coalition based efforts are also galvanizing further momentum, allowing for greater collaboration at the intersections of issue organizing and structural reform. Join us for an overview of the current money in politics landscape, and a discussion about how state advocates are building a more cohesive movement by integrating money in politics reforms with organizing efforts around issues like paid sick leave, funding for education, and voting rights. Our speakers will also explore how state level organizing both fuels and is fueled by national advocacy such as HR 1 and the Green New Deal.

Moderated by Estevan Muñoz-Howard, Piper Fund [bio], Keesha Gaskins-Nathan, Rockefeller Brothers Fund [bio], and trellis stepter, Mertz Gilmore Foundation [bio]
